Logos sketched in pencil then painted and colored (thanks to a Sharpie donation!)

Now the bricks and shield need to be sealed with clear coat for protection and after a little landscaping, I think it will look fine!

Logos

I really wasn't happy with the layout of the logos after 2 hours, they looked like this...


so after some Photoshopping, this is the way I want them to look...

So I'll get that done tomorrow, and hopefully now that I know how it should look, it won't take too long. Also I need to remember to bring a yellow paint that will mix with the red to make a good orange, the yellow I was using kept turning the PNC logo light red. Also, I discovered that makeup brushes at Dollar General are very good for detail painting and super cheap.

Completed Names and In Progress Logos

All the names have been added. Now sealant needs to be painted over the bottom half and I need to finish the sponsor logos on the shield. I just wanted to get the logos blocked in before heading back to Baltimore.

Weather Problems

If anyone has recently driven past the mural and noticed white streaks on the lower right half it is because of the sealant. It was a clear coat applied in late October when the temperature was warm enough for application, but apparently the sealant didn't adhere correctly probably because it got cold soon after being applied. This doesn't mean the actual painting has been affected, just the top clear coat, and luckily it's only the bottom half as the top half was sealed in late summer before the scissor lift was returned.
Hopefully it can be fixed in the spring, and if worst comes to worst, I'll just have to repaint the lower half of the coke oven section. Though I think there is a way to remove the sealant that didn't adhere properly without any damage to the painting.

About half the names have been added so far, but I won't have time to finish adding them before I head back to Baltimore, and unless it's warm enough over Thanksgiving break, it will have to wait until spring.

Touch Ups

Over Labor Day weekend I came home to work on some details like the wheel barrow before Pioneer Days. Then I'll begin to add the names of the families to the bricks.
